Allocating Software Cost to Cost Centres

Allocate licence spend to cost centres — universally, or inherited from each holder.

Quick Answer

Leave a title's cost centre blank and each seat inherits its holder's cost centre; set one and it overrides every seat. Spend rolls up either way.

Software spend allocates to cost centres the same way assets do — with an override-or-inherit choice.

Two ways to allocate

1

Inherit — leave it blank

Leave the title's cost centre empty and each seat inherits from its holder — the person's cost centre, or the device's.

2

Override — set one

Set a cost centre on the title and every seat allocates there, regardless of who holds it.

Either way, when a person or device changes cost centre, the seats that inherit follow along automatically.

ℹ️ Note: Concurrent and site licences have no seats, so they allocate to the title's own cost centre.
