Tracking Trailers

Trailers are full members of the fleet, but they don't consume fuel. DREAM hides fuel-specific UI when a vehicle's powertrain is set to Trailer.

Quick Answer

Set Powertrain to Trailer when creating or editing the vehicle. The Fuel Log card and related Quick Stats lines automatically disappear for that vehicle.

Trailers belong in the fleet for the same reasons trucks do — they need maintenance schedules (brake service, light checks, annual safety inspections), they have plates that expire, and they need replacement planning. But they don't consume fuel.

Setting up a trailer

When adding or editing a vehicle, pick Trailer from the Powertrain dropdown alongside Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid, and Battery Electric.

What DREAM hides

  • Fuel Log card and Add fuel entry button
  • "Total Fuel Spend" line in Quick Stats
  • Fuel contribution to Total Operating Cost

What DREAM keeps

  • Maintenance Log + Maintenance Schedule (annual inspection, brake/light/bearing service)
  • Odometer Log (for trailers with hub meters)
  • Registration, replacement forecast, all other vehicle-level features
ℹ️ Note: If you change a vehicle's powertrain to Trailer later on, any existing fuel log entries are preserved in the database — just hidden from view. Switching the powertrain back to a fuel-consuming type un-hides them.
