Returns and Disposals

How to close out issued items when they are returned to the storeroom or removed from service.

Quick Answer

Open the person's issuance profile, expand the item group, and use the ··· menu on any active row to Return or Dispose.

Issued items can be individually returned to inventory or permanently disposed of — each action is tracked separately with a mandatory note.

Dispose

Always available, regardless of inventory mode. Use it when an item is worn out, lost, or damaged beyond use. A mandatory note is required — this becomes part of the permanent audit record.

Return

Available when inventory mode is enabled. Use it when an item is handed back to the storeroom. You'll be prompted to select a destination location and provide a mandatory note. The item is added back to stock at that location automatically.

Rules

  • Both actions are permanent and cannot be undone.
  • An item can only be closed once — you cannot return and dispose the same record.
  • A timestamped log entry is created for every action, showing who performed it and when.
