One-Time Issue Items (As-Needed)

Some items are issued once and never budgeted for replacement — recruit training kits, one-off event gear. The "as-needed" flag tells DREAM to leave them out of expense forecasts.

Quick Answer

On any C&I item, toggle As-needed on. The Expense Forecast reports will skip every issuance of that item — no past-due bucket, no future cycle projections.

Most C&I items have a regular replacement cycle — uniforms, safety gear, gloves. They get issued, expire, get replaced. The Expense Forecast reports project these cycles forward to help with budgeting.

But some items are issued once and that's it: recruit training kits, one-time event swag, ceremonial gear. They have a real cost when first procured, but they shouldn't inflate your future replacement budget.

Setting the flag

Edit the C&I item and toggle As-needed on. The label sits next to the lifespan field in the item modal. Save.

What changes

  • C&I Expense Forecast – Detailed and – Aggregated reports skip every issuance of this item entirely. No Past Lifecycle bucket entry, no future cycle column
  • The Active Issued Value KPI on the C&I Dashboard still counts these items (they're real current value)
  • C&I by Person, C&I Field Report, and Upcoming Expiries all still include them — current state is real regardless of replacement plans

Live behaviour

The flag is checked at report-run time, not at issuance time. Toggling it on or off changes future forecast runs immediately — no migration needed, no need to re-issue anything.

💡 Tip: Use this for items where "will we ever buy more of this?" is genuinely answered "no" or "only if specifically requested." If you replace items on an irregular basis but still expect to, leave the flag off and use a long lifespan instead.
