Assigning Assets to Vehicles
Learn how container-level vehicle assignments work.
The Fleet Module adds "Vehicle" as a primary assignment type alongside Person and Location.
How it works
An asset assigned to a vehicle is linked to that vehicle by ID. Reassigning an asset to a vehicle nests it inside that fleet unit.
Automatic following
When a vehicle is reassigned to a new location or person, all nested assets follow automatically — no manual update required. Each asset's effective cost centre is derived from wherever the vehicle is currently assigned.
⚠️ Important: If a vehicle is marked Lost or Disposed, its assigned assets are moved to your organization's default inventory location. They don't follow the vehicle because it's no longer an active assignable entity.
